The holidays are over, and it is time we get back to work. 2026 will be the year our family experiences many changes. The goal of this website is to bring our neighbors, friends, and community together, to get answers, and to create real change. We hope you will help.
In the early morning hours of November 21, 2025, I was awakened by my oldest, who told me someone was screaming outside: "The church is on fire!"
We want to talk to you...
Within minutes, my daughter and I, along with our dog, were outside, watching black smoke stream from the Invictus Church next door to our home and curl around the side of our house. A firefighter stood at the church's front door, telling someone (or someone's) they needed to evacuate the building. A short time later, after additional firefighters entered the building, they were instructed to evacuate and begin working from the exterior. Within what seemed like seconds, the side of the church collapsed onto our home. Despite our firefighters' great efforts, our house was severely damaged.
People were seen leaving through the back of the church with shopping carts. Others were seen running toward King Street, and witnesses reported that two people were arrested. We want to talk to anyone who witnessed these events.
If you have any pictures, videos, or information about our home's devastation, PLEASE share them with us on the form on this site so we can find answers about the tragedy that took our home.
We hope that, in finding answers to our tragedy, we will also find real solutions to the issues our community currently faces.
Thank you,
Gene & Sheila
